The story of

Mallorca Specials Production Agency

The roots of Mallorca Specials go back to the late 1990s, when Claudia Joest and her son Fabian took their first steps in the world of film and media production.

Claudia:
From Frankfurt
to Mallorca

Claudia Joest, born Claudia Steinfeld in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has always been a pioneer. After closing her fashion boutiques in Frankfurt, she traveled the world as a consultant for the German Development Ministry. She helped textile producers in South America export their goods to Europe.

After 25 years in Germany, she decided to turn over a new leaf. Mallorca’s influence had long been part of her life— not least through visits to her father, Pedro Chartos Passamonte, and her own finca near Inca. After the loss of her stepfather, she brought her mother and her cats to Mallorca and started a new life there.

Fabian:
Acting and
film

Fabian, a creative spirit, was initially drawn to the stage. After training at drama schools in Barcelona and New York, he worked in theatre, film, and television productions in the USA, Spain, and Germany.

At the same time, he developed an interest in working behind the camera and deepened his knowledge with studies in production, directing and screenwriting at NYU, LSTI, Tisch and HB Studio.

The beginning of Mallorca Specials

Claudia was increasingly asked by photographer friends for styling and production help. What began as occasional support quickly developed into an extensive involvement in lm and television production. Her language skills – Spanish, German, English, French, Portuguese and Italian – and her love of – and local knowledge of – the island made her an indispensable contact for international productions in Spain.

Fabian soon recognised the potential: Claudia did far more than just a classic location scouting. Together they founded **Mallorca Specials** to bundle their extensive services and offer them professionally.

Growth and success

Since the 2000s, Claudia has worked on countless projects, from television productions such as “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” (DSDS) to international cinema films. Fabian contributed his expertise in technology, organization, and filmmaking, supporting his mother in the strategic direction of the agency.

Over the years, Mallorca Specials has grown into a respected agency that does more than just location scouting; it also offers full-service production, technical equipment, local specialists, and sustainability consulting.
